Dua Lipa Dua Lipa, an English artist and singer was born in London, on the 22nd of August 1995. She decided to sign to Warner Bros Records in 2014 after she was a model and launched her self-titled debut album in the year 2017. The album peaked at third place on the U.K. Albums Chart and produced eight singles, including Be the One I.D.G.A.F and the U.K. top-ranked song New Rules which peaked at number six on the charts in the United States. The album, which has now been certified Platinum in various countries across the world was awarded the two Brit Awards (in the year 2018) in the categories of British Female Single Artist, and British Breakthrough Artist. She is the daughter of Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. Her parents are of Bosnian heritage through her mother's grandmother. Her ancestors also come from the Kosovo town Peja. Two of Lipa's grandfathers were historians. Her siblings are Rina as well as Gjin. Her musical inspirations come from her father who was the singer-guitarist of Kosovan The rock band Oda. In the family, her father would continue to perform music, including own compositions and songs by David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Sting The Police and Stereophonics. Lipa began singing when she was just 5 years old. In the year she turned nine years old, she began to sing at her school, the Sylvia Young Theater School.
