Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, is a singer-songwriter and Canadian American. She has released more than 20 albums. DiFranco's music is classified as alternative rock, folk rock but she also draws influences of hip-hop and jazz. A feminist icon widely recognized as Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco is considered to be the father of the DIY movement and is among the first musicians to launch her own record label in 1990. DiFranco was the child of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They were introduced at their school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is of Italian heritage, while her mother hails from Montreal. Ani diFranco wrote and performed the track 32 Flavors. The song can be found on the album Not a Pretty Girl by Ani diFranco. It was released in 1996. It was featured on the soundtrack of 1999's Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate is a variant of this track. DiFranco apologized for holding a conference in Louisiana on an old slave plantation. The event was cancelled, but some (including the news media) failed to consider it a gesture of regret. DiFranco made a retraction apology two days after the first. She is known for her Little Folksinger style, but she has worked with several music genres, from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. The singer hails from New Orleans. Ani is Kristen Ford. She started writing songs at the age of 14. Her teens were spent singing them in pubs and cafes. DiFranco completed her studies at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school when she was 16 and started attending the classes of Buffalo State College. Ani's customized Alvarez baritone was the result of several meetings we held with Chrys Johnson, who was the representative for artist Alvarez. DiFranco admits she is experiencing mixed emotions about her past career, which spans three years.
